The Road Safety Trust opens Autumn 2023 funding round

The Road Safety Trust has opened its Autumn 2023 funding round, with applications now being sought.

The purpose of The Road Safety Trust is to make UK roads safer through the funding of practical measures, research, dissemination and education initiatives.

The Autumn funding round opened for applications today (4 October) and closes at 5pm on 7 November 2023.

There are two routes to funding in this round – Small Grants of up to £50k and Large Grants of up to £500k.

The main aim of the Small Grant strand is to improve road safety at a practical level.

The maximum project length for a Small Grant is 24 months. The minimum amount that can be applied for is £20K and the maximum is £50k.

The Large Grant strand, for applications greater than £50k, funds research and development of innovative practical interventions.

The maximum project length for a Large Grant is 36 months and the maximum amount available is £500k. Organisations thinking of applying for between £301k-£500k should contact the Trust before preparing their submission.

Both strands in this round are ‘open’ themed so can be for any road safety topic – and all applications must include plans for monitoring and evaluation.

Applications are welcomed from public and private organisations, registered charities, university departments and not for profits.

Full guidance on the application process is available on The Road Safety Trust website.
