The five members of Hackney Council’s road safety team will be taking on individual challenges to raise money for Brake during Road Safety Week.
Road Safety Week is always one of the highlights of the road safety calendar. This year’s event takes place between 19-25 November under the theme ‘Let’s talk about speed’.
To raise money for Brake, the five members of the Hackney Council’s education, training and publicity (ETP) team will be spending the five weekdays of Road Safety Week safely travelling around the borough using five active forms of transport.
- On Monday, Sandra Agbabiaka will be walking between five of Hackney’s historic buildings
- On Tuesday, Max Moorcock will be walking and cycling between five of Hackney’s best known green spaces
- On Wednesday, Frederic Bourdier will be travelling by cargo bike between five of Hackney’s best bike shops
- On Thursday, Richard Tarrant will complete five laps around Clissold House on a pennyfarthing (or something equally abstruse)
- On Friday, Stacey Clark will be scooting between five of Hackney’s 27 School crossing patrol officers
Also on Thursday 23 November, between 3-6pm, the team will be running Winterfest. This event provides the local community with five ways to stay safe on and around roads, including free cycle checks and ‘be bright’ art activities for children.
Anyone wishing to contribute can do so via the road safety team’s Just Giving page.
