LRSC signs up to AmazonSmile

Members and supporters of the London Road Safety Council can now use their Amazon purchases to fund the work carried out to improve road safety in the Capital.

The LRSC has enrolled on AmazonSmile, a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products and features as on amazon.co.uk.

The difference is that when customers shop through the URL – smile.amazon.co.uk – Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to the charitable organisations selected by customers.

In order to browse or shop through AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organisation. Once they have chosen their charity they can shop the site as they normally would. Only purchases made through smile.amazon.co.uk are eligible to generate donations.

Cllr Teji Barnes, chair of the LRSC, said: “The aim of the LRSC is to reduce the number of casualties on the Capital’s roads by providing a forum to discuss road safety issues, delivering projects and promoting resources and publicity materials.

“The money raised through the AmazonSmile initiative will help the organisation massively in its efforts to reach that aim and improve safety for all road users.”
