TfL and the Mayor’s transport strategy - live webcast and thoughts

With the Mayor’s draft Transport Strategy now out for consultation – how does Transport for London intend to implement the new ideas?

Published on 21 June, the strategy sets out ‘ambitious’ plans to reduce car use across the Capital - including the goal of reducing daily car journeys in London by three million.

Areas of focus include creating a London-wide network of cycle routes, ‘high quality’ public realms and more vehicle free-zones. The plan also explores the next generation of road user charging and restricting car parking provision within new developments.

The strategy also supports the delivery of a ‘Vision Zero’ approach – with the aim for no one to be killed in, or by, a London bus by 2030, and for all deaths and serious injuries from road collisions to be eliminated from the Capital’s streets by 2041.

At a full meeting of the London Assembly tomorrow, Assembly Members will put questions on the draft Transport Strategy to Mike Brown, TfL Commissioner and Val Shawcross CBE, deputy mayor for transport.

The meeting can be viewed, live, via webcast or on YouTube from 10am tomorrow (28 June).
