A training course to provide road safety practitioners with the basic skills, knowledge and understanding to deliver a road safety intervention takes place in London next month.
Developed by the Road Safety GB Academy, the Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course is being hosted by Barnet Council on 5-6 June (part one) and 16-17 July (part two).
It is the first time a Road Safety GB Academy course has been hosted in London.
Designed to recognise the change in the road safety practice over the last two decades, the course provides participants with an overview of the knowledge and skills they need to effectively and safely deliver a road safety educational intervention.
By the end of the course a participant will be able to:
- Assess the need for, and critically analyse, an educational intervention (based on data)
- Understand the importance of research and evaluation
- Understand the need to work in partnership with other organisations
The course provides participants with an overview of the whole process from identifying a road safety issue, to developing an intervention and through to evaluation.
Learning will be assessed by completion of an assessment task, to be returned within four-weeks of course completion.
Established in 2013, The Academy is the professional development arm of Road Safety GB. The Academy helps road safety practitioners enhance their skills in order to deliver effective, evidence-led road safety interventions.
