London Road Safety Council unveils new website

New LRSC site

The London Road Safety Council has launched a new website which includes a newsfeed focusing on road safety issues in the capital.

The newsfeed will be updated several times a week with stories about initiatives and interventions developed by road safety teams across London, and other stakeholders.

Anyone interested can subscribe to receive a fortnightly email update from LRSC which will summarise news items published on the site.

The site also includes an opinion piece by a London road safety professional. The first piece, by Road Safety GB spokesperson Liz Brooker, covers the topical issue of cycling on the pavement, in which she concludes ‘when it comes to scaling our road safety priorities, there are far bigger concerns’.

Readers are also able to comment on the opinion piece, with all comments read prior to publication on the site.

The site also contains comprehensive contact details for all London road safety teams and elected members with responsibility for road safety.

In addition to contact details, each London borough has its own dedicated page which provides information about the road safety service it provides, and details of current campaigns and initiatives.

The site also carries information about road safety resources available from the LRSC, and training provided by the Council.

Councillor Wendy Brice-Thompson, Chair of the London Road Safety Council, said: “The new website provides an excellent forum for London’s road safety professionals to share information and publicise road safety initiatives and interventions.

“However, the site has also been designed very much with the public in mind. We shall be using it to make London’s road users aware of the key safety issues we all face when travelling on the capital’s roads, and of the efforts being made to improve safety and reduce collisions and casualties.”
