Elected members encouraged to participate in training session

LRSC training session

The London Road Safety Council is holding a training session for newly-appointed elected members, designed to provide insight and understanding of the challenges faced in reducing the casualty toll on Capital’s roads.

The two-hour session takes place at the Guildhall, City of London, on 28 September (1.30-3.30pm).

The training will be split into two sections. Ian Edwards from eDriving Solutions will provide an introduction to the e-learning modules that the LRSC has produced for elected members.

The three modules cover: an introduction to road safety, vulnerable road users, and ‘Vision Zero’ – London’s long term strategy for casualty reduction.

The second session will be delivered by Bruce Walton of Road Safety Analysis, who will look at the MAST programme of casualty data analysis.

This session is designed to help members appreciate the scale and intricacies of the casualty problem at both a London-wide and borough level.

James Parker, the LRSC’s executive officer, said:

“The LRSC is a unique organisation in that as well as professional officers, its’ membership includes up to two elected members from each London local authority.

“With the recent London elections resulting in a number of new appointments to the LRSC, arrangements have been made to hold this induction session for elected members so they can quickly gain insight and understanding of the challenges faced in reducing the casualty toll on London’s roads.”

The training is free of charge to elected members, with those attending required to bring their own laptop.
