A series of e-learning modules for elected members across London with an interest in, and responsibility for road safety, is currently out for review and should be available early this year.

The e-learning element – part of a three-year programme of training for elected members – is being developed by New View Consultants on behalf of the London Road Safety Council and with funding provided by Transport for London (TfL).

The training programme, which was launched at the LRSC’s AGM in July, also includes an induction leaflet, monthly best practice sessions across London Boroughs, and a discussion and help forum in the members’ area of the LRSC website.

The first e-learning module is an introduction to road safety for elected members which includes collision data, collision reduction targets, the role of the elected member, partnership working and the importance of evaluation etc.

This module is currently live and a further five modules looking at specific road safety themes are currently under development.

It will take around 10-15mins to complete each module, and around two hours for the whole programme. There will be an optional assessment at the end of each module and documentation to confirm the participant has completed each module.

All modules will be available by the start of 2017, and accessed via a link from the LRSC website.
