The Royal Borough has met road safety targets set by the Mayor of London but we are still constantly working with community partners including the Metropolitan Police, schools, youth groups and businesses, to make our roads safer.

'Get Home Safely' campaign
Get home safely is the message to clubbers and late night revellers in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
We launched the campaign to promote road safety after statistics for killed and seriously injured pedestrians showed a higher number of night-time casualties occurred in the borough than other central London authorities. From 2010 to 2013 more than a quarter of pedestrian KSI casualties in Kensington and Chelsea occured between 11pm and 3am, with the majority of these on Friday or Saturday nights. A high number of the casualties were impaired by alcohol and more than half were aged between 20 and 29 years.
Junior Road Safety Officer
The Junior Road Safety Officer scheme is a project aimed at promoting road safety in primary schools. A small group of pupils, normally selected from Years 5 and 6, are selected to become Junior Road Safety Officers, and their job is to promote awareness of road safety and transport issues to their peers and the school community.
Each participating Junior Road Safety Officer is given a folder packed with information to help them carry out their roles, as well as bags, stationery and many other items designed to be fun and informative, and to make the role as rewarding as possible.
Motorcycle and scooter safety (BikeSafe)
Residents and those who work in the borough can take advantage of a free 'BikeSafe' motorcycle skills day by contacting road.safety@rbkc.gov.uk or by calling 020 7361 3628. Successfully completing the course will entitle you to access the reduced price motorcycle permit scheme.
